Tech Tuesday: Virtual Canada Day 2020

Canada Day celebrations will look a bit different this year due to the pandemic, but there’s no shortage of virtual Canada Day events across the TNRD and across the country to help us celebrate.

The City of Kamloops will be live streaming their Canada Day festivities this year, including musical performances, dancing, puppet shows, and more! The festivities will begin on July 1 at 11:00 am. Click here for a full list of activities and for details on accessing the live stream.

Merritt will be going ahead with their fireworks celebration this year from a secret location to be announced on July 1. Residents are strongly encouraged to watch the Canada Day Fireworks live streamed on the City of Merritt Facebook page or from their own backyards. Merritt’s festivities will also include a Travelling Band and a Canada Day Keep Active Scavenger Hunt. More information about Merritt’s Canada Day celebration can be found here.

Ashcroft will offer live Canada Day events this year in a different format from previous years. Those who can’t attend in person can will be able to watch a portion of the events online on the Ashcroft Hub Facebook page or YouTube channel. Click here for details.

If you live in a community that’s not offering any virtual Canada Day events this year, you can still celebrate Canada Day online with the rest of the country. Visit the Government of Canada’s Canada Day 2020 website for details. The Canada Day Daytime Show starts at 1:00 pm and the Canada Day Evening Show starts at 8:00 pm. Both shows will feature performances by talented artists from across the country. There will also be a virtual fireworks show starting at 10:00 pm.
